Pair of Cast Brass Girandole Mirrors, Three-Light, 21 inches

¤1,750.00

Description Matched pair of cast-brass girandole mirrors with three candle arms each and beveled mirror plates. Heavy, sand-cast frames with crowned mask/Green-Man crest, scrolling foliage, and strapwork. They read as sculpture and light source in equal measure—statement pieces for flanking a mantel, doorway, or gallery wall. Condition Very good antique condition with age-consistent surface wear, scattered oxidation, a couple of missing silvering spots, and minor rubs to the brass. Beveled plates present well with expected light marks and silvering traces; arms are sturdy; ready to hang. Sold as a pair. Dimensions Height: approx. 21 in (53.5 cm). Width/projection substantial; message for exact measurements if needed. Sockets fit standard 7/8" tapers. Heavy for size; ship in two boxes. Highlights • Matched pair — sold together • Cast-brass frames with crowned mask/Green‑Man crest • Three candle arms each with drip pans (bobeches) • Original beveled mirror plates • Rich aged patina; unpolished Why you’ll love it They bring drama, warmth, and real craftsmanship: the deep casting throws beautiful candlelight, the beveled plates sparkle, and the classical ornament works in both traditional and eclectic rooms. Styling suggestions • Flank a fireplace, doorway, or tall chest for symmetry • Layer with oil portraits, gilt frames, or library shelving • Lean into mood — use beeswax tapers for a Gothic glow • Mix with crystal or silver on a dining wall for old‑world glamour Dating & background Late 19th–early 20th century (c. 1890–1915). Renaissance/Baroque Revival vocabulary—crowns, masks, scrollwork, strapwork—was widely used across Continental foundries. These are likely European (Continental) sand‑cast brass with hand finishing. Care Dust with a soft cloth. If desired, polish sparingly with a non‑abrasive brass polish, avoiding over‑brightening the patina. Use dripless 7/8" tapers or sleeves in bobeches; never leave candles unattended.
