Antique Georgian Creamware Divided Lidded Box

Antique Georgian Creamware Divided Lidded Box

¤115.00

Overview Late Georgian creamware oval box with domed lid and fruit knop, divided into three interior compartments. Warm ivory glaze with molded ribbing and bead panels—an elegant survivor with the charm of use. Highlights • English creamware body with molded lobes • Three interior partitions for condiments or sweets • Domed lid with fruit knop and leaf mounts • Sophisticated late‑Georgian form • Displays well despite honest wear Why you will love it True Georgian creamware is increasingly scarce. The divided interior and sculptural lid make this a functional statement piece for display or repurpose on a desk or vanity. Dating and background c. 1790–1810. Produced in the Leeds/Staffordshire tradition often called 'Queensware' in the trade. Form, glaze tone, and molded ornament align with late‑18th to early‑19th century creamware production. Condition Overall fair to good antique condition with notable wear. Multiple rim and edge chips, glaze losses and staining, and losses to the fruit knop; general surface wear from age and use. Interior partitions intact. No obvious through‑cracks observed in normal inspection. Please review photos. Dimensions Approx. 5 1/2 x 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 inches (L x W x H). Care For display only. Gently dust with a soft brush or microfiber cloth. Avoid soaking, dishwasher use, or harsh cleaners. A tiny dot of museum wax can steady the lid for display. Styling Style on a bookshelf or sideboard with other creamware and pearlware. Repurpose as a desk caddy for clips and pins, or as a vanity box for rings and small accessories.
